A 4-year-old boy who was seriously injured after falling into a pool when he went missing in Hampden last Monday was released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
On the morning of Sept. 25, Hampden police were called to a location on Kennebec Road for a report of a lost 4-year-old. When they arrived, they learned the child had walked away from an enclosed playground at Highland Preschool and fallen into a nearby pool, where he was seriously injured, according to a statement from Hampden police.
Preschool staff “immediately” found the boy and began resuscitating him, police said in a statement last week. First responders “provided advanced life support care” while the child was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
He was discharged from the hospital on Sept. 28 and is “recovering well” at home with his family and “continues to show no apparent deficits from his injuries,” police said Tuesday.
Hampden police are investigating how the child fell into the pool.
