Regarding the November referendum for Pine Tree Power: One, do Mainers, specifically Versant and Central Maine Power electricity customers, whatever Versant and CMP service shortcomings and consumer complaints, want to put their electricity needs in one basket?
Two, if the referendum passes, it could prove in due time to be a bad voter decision. Three, should Pine Tree Power prove to be less than expected, even go bust, will there be any private utility companies not only willing to do business in the state of Maine but also have the need or a favorable business expansion interest in assuming the cost of replacing Pine Tree Power?
Obviously, it will be at a seriously reduced business takeover expense.
