A Maine assistant attorney general accused of drunken driving in Wilton has pleaded not guilty.
Paul Suitter, 35, of Portland entered a written plea of not guilty after being charged with OUI in August, according to the Sun Journal.
Suitter was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
Franklin County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report about a possible drunken driver on Weld Road on Aug. 5. Deputies stopped the vehicle on Main Street in Wilton.
Suitter was then arrested and charged with operating under the influence.
He posted the $200 bail on Aug. 6.
His next court appearance is now scheduled for November.
The Sun Journal reported that Suitter is an assistant attorney general for the state in the litigation division.
A conviction for OUI is punishable by up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
