Police took two people into custody on Monday after an incident that prompted law enforcement to advise some Milford residents to shelter in place.
In a joint statement, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said they were conducting an investigation in the vicinity of Bradley Road (Route 178) at about 2:50 p.m. Monday when “a situation involving weapons occurred, and an increased law enforcement response was required.”
Police say they secured the involved residence and took two people leaving the home into custody. They did not identify the people or say why they were arrested.
A third person “experiencing medical issues” was brought to a hospital, police said.
The agencies additionally referred to a “potential barricaded person situation” and said the sheriff’s Special Response Team was able to negotiate with a fourth person to come out of the residence.
Investigators from MDEA and Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office were still at the scene carrying out a warrant, at the time of the statement posted to Facebook at about 8 p.m. Monday.
The agencies said an additional statement will be released on Tuesday.
