An Oct. 3 opinion piece in the BDN on the COVID-19 booster urges more Americans to get a shot. I’m 86 years old living alone, so I was highly motivated to get one, but when I went to my drug store, I was told they weren’t giving them that day because their pharmacist had been transferred to another store. So I drove to that store and was told I had to sign up for it. But before I did that, I tried a third pharmacy, but they said they hadn’t received the booster.
So I went back to the first pharmacy to sign up, only to be told that they were booked through the end of the month, and they weren’t taking any more sign-ups. So, when urging people to get a shot, the authors should have encouraged them to check out its availability.
