An Oxford man died after the motorcycle he was driving crashed in Casco on Tuesday.
Eric Merciers Jr., 38, died after crashing his 2002 Honda while heading west on Poland Spring Road (Route 11) at Coffee Pond Road at about 3:55 p.m., according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the motorcycle and Merciers, who was not wearing a helmet, slid across Poland Spring Road and struck a guard rail.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, The Cumberland County Criminal Investigation Division and Sheriff’s accident reconstruction team are continuing to investigate the crash.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call 893-2810.
