Five people have been charged with aggravated trespass after Just Stop Oil protesters disrupted a Les Miserables performance in London’s West End on Wednesday night.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement Hannah Taylor, 23, Lydia Gribbin, 28, Hanan Ameur, 22, Noah Crane, 18 and Poppy Bliss, 19, had all been charged.
The protesters went on stage during a performance of Do You Hear The People Sing? while footage showed Just Stop Oil members explaining why they took the action, wearing T-shirts saying: “The show can’t go on.”
Some members of the audience booed and shouted while a protester addressed the auditorium at the Sondheim Theatre.
The demonstration led to the performance being abandoned.
All five people have been bailed and are due at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 3 November.
Police said they want to hear from audience members who may have travelled from outside London to see the show.
