Dozens of protestors demanding a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict took to the Cannon House Office building on Wednesday, lining the floor of the rotunda.
Wearing shirts that read “Not in our name. Jews say cease fire now,” demonstrators began to be arrested by the U.S. Capitol Police.
Activities also occurred outside the building where protesters took to the streets. “I think the White House and everyone thinks that we’re just going to sit back and just let this continue to happen — no,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) said during a speech at the rally.
In a post, Capitol police said such demonstrations were not allowed inside complex buildings: “We warned the protestors to stop demonstrating and when they did not comply we began arresting them,” it wrote.
