Wales’s health minister has deleted an “appalling” social media post which included a joke about Margaret Thatcher’s hearse.
Eluned Morgan’s comments came during the UK government’s cabinet reshuffle on Monday.
In a now deleted Facebook post, Ms Morgan wrote: “What next? Thatcher’s hearse arriving at No 10?!”
The changes to Rishi Sunak‘s top team saw Suella Braverman sacked and the unexpected return of former prime minister Lord David Cameron to the cabinet as foreign secretary – the latter move having prompted Ms Morgan’s comments.
The Welsh Conservatives’ shadow education minister said the post was “well beyond the pale”.
“The public expect far better from their ministers,” Laura Anne Jones said.
“Her last sentence here is appalling. The Welsh health minister needs to delete this post and apologise.”

Fay Jones, who was appointed junior minister at the Wales Office as part of the reshuffle, added: “Wouldn’t it be great if her attention had gone to the Welsh NHS, instead of a nasty post like this?”

Ms Morgan, who has been Wales’s health minister since 2021, came under pressure earlier this year as Wales’s largest health board was placed back into special measures after the publication of a damning report.
Sky News has asked Ms Morgan for her response.
