A lobsterman rescued a person from their submerged car on Thursday afternoon after the vehicle went down the boat ramp near East End Beach in Portland and into Casco Bay.
Police said the incident happened at about 12:40 p.m. The lobsterman went into the water, pulled the person out of the vehicle and brought them to the boat launch.
Rescue crews then took over and brought the person to the hospital. Their condition and the reason the vehicle went into the bay were not immediately known.
Officials were working on Thursday afternoon to remove the car from Casco Bay.
