The lucky Mainer who won the $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot is now taking legal action against the mother of his child.
He’s accusing the woman of breaking a non-disclosure agreement by speaking about his lottery win to his family members.
The two came to an agreement to keep the win confidential until their daughter turned 18, which would be in 2032, according to the lawsuit.
He alleges she revealed the win to family members, which potentially endangers his public identity and safety.
The Mega Millions winning ticket was purchased for the Jan. 13 drawing at the Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon, Maine.
He came forward to accept his winnings in February through a limited liability company called LaKoma Island Investments LLC. His name has not been released.
The Mainer took the lump sum payment of $723 million.
The Mainer, identified as “John Doe” in court documents, is seeking the names of those who were given the “unauthorized” disclosures.
He is also seeking compensatory damages “in an amount to be determined at trial, but no less than $100,000 per unauthorized disclosure,” according to the lawsuit.
