A jury has found a 68-year-old Hancock man guilty of assaulting a federal officer in June.
According to documents presented in court Wednesday, on June 22, 2023, a number of FBI special agents attempted to execute a federal search warrant at a Hancock residence occupied by Alan Howell Parrot. Parrot apparently became combative and kicked an agent in the stomach, causing elbow injuries, according to official documents.
According to court documents filed on Oct. 31, federal officers were attempting to execute a search warrant to determine if Parrot was in possession of sexually explicit material portraying minors.
Following the one-day trial in U.S. District Court in Bangor, a jury found Parrot guilty of assaulting the officer, according to Andrew McCormack, assistant United States attorney.
Parrot faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, along with three years of supervised release. A sentence will be determined by a federal district judge following an investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
