A Japan Airlines aircraft that was carrying passengers caught fire on a runway at Tokyo’s Haneda airport after a possible collision with a coast guard plane.
Video and pictures from the runway show flames coming out of the windows of an aircraft, as the fire quickly took hold and grew to an inferno.
All 379 passengers and crew on board the passenger plane were evacuated, according to the Reuters news agency.
Japan Airlines says the flight landed at Haneda where it then collided with what appears to be a coast guard aircraft.
One person aboard the coast guard plane was evacuated but the remaining five are unaccounted for, Japanese state broadcaster NHK has reported.
The country’s coast guard said it was looking into the possibility that one of its planes crashed into the airliner.
Video on social media shows the plane in flames travelling down the runway before coming to a stop, where the flames increased dramatically.

All runways at Haneda – Japan’s busiest airport – are currently closed.
Japan Airlines said the aircraft – Flight 516 – had departed from Shin-Chitose airport in Hokkaido.
