Two courthouses were evacuated on Thursday morning after receiving bomb threats.
The Cumberland County Courthouse was evacuated around 10:15 a.m. after it received a bomb threat in an email, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
Police swept the courthouse with bomb-sniffing dogs “out of an abundance of caution” and found nothing, Nadeau said Thursday.
The courthouse reopened at 11:30 a.m.
A similar bomb threat prompted the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta to be evacuated on Thursday, CBS affiliate WGME reported.
That comes a day after a bomb threat led to an evacuation at the State House in Augusta. Legislatures in at least seven other states received similar bomb threats on Wednesday.
WGME reported that York County officials evacuated and relocated court employees as a precaution in response to the threats sent to the Augusta and Portland courthouses.
