The storm battering the Maine coast has flooded the only road connecting Deer Isle to the mainland.
The causeway between Little Deer Isle and Deer Isle has been closed for at least two hours, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday morning.
It could reopen as soon as 11 a.m.
A video from the Deer Isle Volunteer Fire Department showed a plow truck stopped at the start of the causeway and waves washing over the narrow road.
The storm, the second of three to hit Maine this week, brought snow overnight before changing over to rain and hit the state with high winds gusting up to 92 mph along parts of the coast.
