A Casco man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road and leading police on a chase.
Nathan Locke, 29, has been charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, eluding, failure to stop, refusing to submit to arrest, reckless conduct and violating conditions of release, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Locke was driving a 2010 Chrysler Sebring on the wrong side of Route 26 in Mechanic Falls during a snowstorm about 8:07 p.m., Moss said Wednesday.
Locke allegedly almost struck several vehicles, including a Maine State Police cruiser. The trooper attempted to pull over Locke, who allegedly didn’t stop and continued to drive on the wrong side of the road, nearly hitting several more vehicles, according to Moss.
After a brief chase, Locke crashed into a utility pole on Bakerstown Road in Poland after trying to negotiate a turn in the road around a plow truck.
Locke was arrested and taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was allegedly uncooperative with hospital staff, hospital security and police.
Upon being treated and released from the hospital, Locke was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
