A man has been arrested after he allegedly inflicted fatal injuries on another man by the Portland YMCA.
Robert Lancaster, 49, of Portland allegedly assaulted 60-year-old David Hannauer about 12:53 a.m. Friday at 70 Forest Ave., where the YMCA is located, according to interim Police Chief Robert Martin.
Hannauer was found unconscious and taken to Maine Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon, Martin said Monday morning.
The Maine medical examiner’s office performed an autopsy Sunday morning and ruled Hannauer’s death a homicide.
Lancaster was arrested on an aggravated assault charge and taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where he’s been held since Friday morning. He was arrested again at the jail and charged with murder.
Lancaster is being held without bail.
