A Belgrade woman will spend two years behind bars after stealing $221,000 from a youth community center.
Sherrie Genness, 46, was also ordered to pay $221,000 in restitution as a condition of her three-year probation, according to the Kennebec Journal.
Genness took cash from the Alfond Youth & Community Center in Waterville around 1,700 times between 2014 and 2019.
According to club officials, she would steal the cash then delete the payments from the club’s finance books.
Genness pleaded no contest last year to the felony theft charge in a plea agreement.
