Animals and birds have logical responses to storms. Usually, they hunker down out of the wind and the worst of the weather.
Not so with this deer especially. Whether it was spooked from its hiding place or driven from its shelter by hunger, the deer in this video by BDN Contributor Allie Ladd is out and about in this driving snowstorm.
The eagle seems to be scoping out possibilities for a last-minute meal at the beginning of this snowstorm. It still has time to fill its belly if it can find something to eat quickly.
Once the storm winds up, the eagle will find a place to roost in the sheltering branches of a nearby tree to avoid most of the storm and especially any wind.
Thank you, Allie, for another beautiful glimpse at Maine’s wild creatures.
