An Oxford County sheriff’s deputy was injured on Tuesday after a reported vehicle crash led to a shooting in downtown Fryeburg.
Emergency radio reports indicated there was a crash with entrapment and serious injuries reported just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and state Route 113. There was a shooting involving multiple police agencies and a deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Oxford County Sheriff Christopher Wainwright said.
It was unclear who did the shooting and whether the deputy had been shot. Wainwright referred a reporter to Attorney General Aaron Frey’s office, which investigates incidents in which police use deadly force. A Maine State Police spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
