The Portland Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and later this year, a very big name in classical music will be joining it on stage.
Award-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma will be making his first appearance with the orchestra later this year.
Portland Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Carolyn Nishon is excited for the opportunity to work with such a big name in the industry.
“This has been in the works for a number of years now, to see if we could make this happen,” Nishon said. “To do this for our 100th anniversary, we just could not ask for a more innovative, creative, inspiring guest artist to join us.”
She said the whole orchestra is excited to rehearse with him. Tickets go on sale to the public in June.
