A man was shot in the torso by his teenage son Monday afternoon.
A call reporting a man shot by his son came into the Penobscot Regional Communication Center at about 3:55 p.m. The man was shot at a home on Main Road in Carmel.
The man was found by Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies, and police secured the home with the teenager, the sheriff’s office said.
During that time 911 dispatch asked people to avoid the area of Main and Damascus roads in Carmel. There was no threat to the public, according to a Facebook post from dispatch at 4:45 p.m, Monday.
The father was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition with a single gunshot wound to his torso, police said.
The teenager was arrested and the gun was seized. Police, who are still investigating the incident, said they do not know if the teen will be placed in a juvenile facility or the Penobscot County Jail.
