Two people have been charged after returning to the site of an illegal marijuana growing operation that was raided in January, the Kennebec Journal reported.
Xiangming Ye, 62, of Whitefield and Brooklyn, New York, was one of seven suspects after the Jan. 10 raids in Chelsea, Jefferson and Whitefield. He is accused of possessing 1,014 marijuana plants at 34 Clover Lane in Whitefield. While others were arrested in the raids, Ye allegedly fled by foot, according to the newspaper.
After the raids, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was watching the Whitefield property and saw Ye with a woman, Hongxia Kuang, 51, also of Whitefield and Brooklyn, New York, at the home.
When questioned, Ye allegedly told police Kuang had been involved in the operation. Police arrested Ye and issued a summons on Friday to Kuang. Both face class B charges of unlawfully cultivating marijuana.
