City councilors in Hallowell Monday night made their city the latest in Maine to ban the sale of flavored tobacco.
By a 4-3 vote in favor of the ordinance, any tobacco product with any taste or smell that relates to fruit, menthol, mint, candy or any other flavoring will no longer be available within city limits.
Hallowell is the latest city to enact a ban, joining Bangor, Bar Harbor, Brunswick, Falmouth, Portland and South Portland.
The Legislature is also expected to consider a bill this year that would end the sale of flavored tobacco statewide.
