Police arrested shooting suspect Matthew Vandine and Noel Wilson after a 6.5-hour standoff in Prentiss that ended Saturday evening.
Vandine, 45, of Molunkus allegedly shot a man at a Ghost Road home in Springfield on Feb. 14, and fled in a vehicle with Wilson, 32, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Police received a tip that the pair were alone in a house on the Tar Ridge Road in Prentiss, and there was a weapon inside as well. Neighbors were told to shelter in place, and police blocked off the road.
The sheriff’s office called in the Maine State Police Tactical Team and police made several attempts to contact Vandine and Wilson, who did not respond, police said.
After several hours, the pair came out of the house and were arrested without incident, the sheriff’s office said.
Police said Vandine has a lengthy criminal history and was out on bail for another dangerous incident, although the sheriff’s office did not provide any details.
