A young and unproven fifth-seeded Hodgdon boys basketball team stunned No. 4 Machias 64-57 in their Class C North regional quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The Hawks will play the winner of No. 1 Calais and No. 8 Piscataquis on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 3:30 p.m.
Hodgdon did not qualify for the Class C boys tournament the last two years, while Machias finished as the Class D North regional runner-up the last two seasons.
Machias reclassified to Class C this year, and had beaten No. 1 Calais twice in the regular season.
