The union representing some city workers in Lewiston is calling on the City Council to impeach Mayor Carl Sheline.
The union presented a vote of no confidence in Sheline to councilors during the public comment section of Tuesday night’s meeting, with what the union said was 95 percent approval from members.
According to the letter, this stems largely from recent controversies involving the city’s code and health inspector office and appearances of special treatment for a local restaurant by Sheline.
The controversy was detailed earlier this month by the CBS13 I-Team, which obtained emails revealing how closely some city leaders worked to keep the business owners happy throughout the process.
The union accuses Sheline of creating a toxic work environment.
