WEST ENFIELD — Girl Scouts of Maine recently announced Stephanie Michaud of West Enfield, Maine as the February Volunteer of the Month. Michaud is a service unit manager and troop leader for the Rising Star Service Unit. The volunteer of the month is a prestigious title recognized by GSME. It is awarded monthly to an adult volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and efforts within the organization to benefit Girl Scouts statewide.
Michaud has been a Rising Star Service Unit Manager since 2017 and has led her recently graduated daughter’s Troop 2024 since she was a Daisy. Throughout her many years of service, Michaud has built a reputation of the highest standard amongst troops in her area.
While not often the loudest in the room, Michaud is a fierce advocate for those less fortunate, allocating special attention and compassion for those struggling. Described by her peers as someone with a strong moral compass for right and wrong, Michaud is an extremely reliable volunteer.
Although Membership Year 2023 was intended to mark her retirement from the Girl Scouts, Michaud’s passion for the organization meant otherwise. Not only did she agree to stay on as a service unit manager, but she also revamped her troop to take in Brownie Girl Scouts from two recently disbanded troops. Time and time again, Michaud has proven that there isn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her fellow Girl Scout sisters, and thus GSME could not think of a better recipient for the Volunteer of the Month title for February.

Through programs across the state of Maine and beyond, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges — whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
