The Husson University’s men’s basketball team will be heading to the city and the Maine Maritime women’s basketball team will be heading to a more rural setting for their NCAA Division III tournament games on Friday evening.
Both earned NCAA Division III Tournament berths by winning their North Atlantic Conference championship games over SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday.
The 23-5 Husson men will travel to New York City to take on 14th-ranked New York University, 20-5, at the Violets’ John A. Paulson Center at 6:45 while the 23-4 Maine Maritime Academy women will face 25-3 Smith College in Northampton, Mass. at 7.
The men’s tourney will kick off at 4:15 when Tufts University, 19-7, and Stockton University (N.J.),17-10, square off.
That will be followed by the Husson-NYU game.
The championship game will be at 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
In the women’s event, Shenandoah University (21-7) from Virginia will meet Messiah University (22-5) from Pennsylvania in the 4:30 opener on Friday at Ainsworth Gymnasium.
The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday.
