A Maine man has been arrested for allegedly exposing himself to students on the Bates College campus in Lewiston.
Police said they responded to the Bates College campus for a report of a man exposing himself to students on Monday at about 11:45 p.m.
After speaking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from the area, police identified Robert Allen Burgess Jr., 55, of Mechanic Falls, as the suspect.
Burgess was arrested and charged with indecent conduct, a misdemeanor.
He was brought to the Androscoggin County Jail where his bail was set at $5, according to the Lewiston Police Department and jail officials.
The Lewiston Police Department said they had a conversation with the bail commissioner who advised them that he is prohibited by legislation to impose a higher bail for such a crime.
Burgess has since been released.
