A United Airlines flight traveling from London to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted to Bangor International Airport on Friday morning because of two unruly passengers, an airline spokesperson said.
The two passengers aboard the 150-person flight appeared to be intoxicated and became disruptive, so law enforcement officials removed them after the plane landed in Bangor, the spokesperson said. They will be banned from future United flights.
United Airlines flight 883, en route from Heathrow Airport in London to Newark Liberty International Airport, was scheduled to depart at 8:18 a.m. and touched down in Bangor at 9:56 a.m., Flightradar24 reported. The service tracks flights in real time.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the flight was diverted due to unruly passengers.
The flight was estimated to depart from Bangor to Newark at 11:19 a.m. Friday. An United Airlines spokesperson said around 12:40 p.m. that the plane was already on its way to Newark.
Aimee Thibodeau, spokesperson for the Bangor International Airport, said she could not comment on aircraft operations. The Bangor Police Department was not immediately available to comment.
