A Maine man was arrested Saturday four months after his domestic partner died in suspicious circumstances.
Eric Knight, 48, of Bridgton was charged with depraved indifference murder in the death of 51-year-old Benita Preo, according to Shannon Moss, Maine State Police spokesperson.
Preo was found dead on November 25, 2023 at the Pond Road home where the couple had been living together. Her death was ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A Grand Jury indicted Knight in Preo’s murder following a three-month investigation by Maine State Police.
Moss declined to release the cause of Preo’s death.
Knight was taken into custody without incident Saturday and is being held in the Cumberland County Jail on a $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
