It’s Canada lynx mating season in March and if you have any doubt, listen to these animals talk as they wander through Maine’s woods.
Male lynx wander the woods looking for mates this time of year, and is likely what is happening here in this video by BDN contributor Allie Ladd.
Kittens will be born two months later and raised by the female, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Mom lynx tend to have from one to five kittens in Maine. She makes a den under thick fir trees or elevated downed logs, the MDIF&W said.
By July, the babies can leave the den with their mom and they stay with her until the next spring, the department said.
