Princess Kate Middleton is out and about again — but her face was hidden from the camera.
Kate, 42, was spotted alongside her husband, Prince William, in a car leaving Windsor Castle on Monday, March 11, according to a photo obtained by the Daily Mail.
In the snap, William, 41, could be seen looking down as he gears up to attend the annual Commonwealth Day service while Kate was peering out the opposite window, her face turned away from the view of photographers.
While she was in the car with her husband, the Daily Mail reported that Kate “will not be attending” the Commonwealth Day service and “was heading to a private appointment instead.”
Prince William and Princess Kate’s Sweetest Moments With Their Kids
Kate’s most recent spotting comes one day after she made headlines for a Mother’s Day portrait taken by William and posted via Kensington Palace’s social media accounts.
In the image, uploaded on Sunday, March 10, Kate was surrounded by her three kids, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. Fans were quick to point out various editing mistakes, raising speculation that the picture was manipulated. (It was widely reported that various news agencies received a “kill notification” on Sunday to take down the image.)
The following day, Kate shared a statement regarding the photo debacle.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” read a statement posted via the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official X account on Monday. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”
The message was signed with a “C,” signifying that Catherine had written the statement before her public outing.
Kate and William’s car ride on Monday marks the second time the Princess of Wales has been photographed since December 2023.
Biggest Royal Family Scandals Through the Years
TMZ obtained the first photo of Kate earlier this month as her months-long abdominal surgery recovery continues. The outlet published the image of Kate in a car alongside her mother, Carole Middleton, on March 4. The Princess of Wales was wearing sunglasses as she sat in the passenger’s seat.
In January, Kensington Palace announced that Kate had been hospitalized for a “planned abdominal surgery” that would take her away from all royal family duties until Easter.
“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” a statement via the palace’s social media accounts read at the time. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
Royal family supporters have raised their eyebrows as Kate’s recovery continues, with some speculating about her well-being. William offered an update on his wife — and her health — on March 6.
“His focus is on work and not on social media,” a rep for William told People at the time.
