Sunday’s storm brought flooded roads and powerful waves to areas of Scarborough.
This is the third time this year that residents living along Higgins Beach have seen significant flooding. They were still recovering from those January storms when they were hit again.
“I’m from Boston, but I just came up to check on it because I was hoping it didn’t float down the road,” said Michael Ruine, who lives along Higgins Beach.
Ruine made the trip up to Scarborough to ensure his summer house was OK. The house was undamaged, but the roads were flooded.
Vesper Street in Scarborough looked like a river and was coated in sea foam.
Driveways in the area were flooded, and water reached all the way to the front steps of several houses.
Elizabeth Flaherty lives on Vesper Street and was in disbelief.
“It’s just crazy. Never in all my lifetime have I seen this,” said Flaherty.
Judy Hodgdon was out surveying the damage on Bayview Avenue along the ocean.
being one of them.
“It’s unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Hodgdon.
This storm took out a massive beam and chunks of the road after waves crashed over the sea wall.
“We’re still not repaired from what happened in January and December, so it’s pretty rough,” said Hodgdon.
