Canadian man arrested after alleged trying to steal from Alfond Arena  

A Canadian man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly broke into Alfond Arena in Orono and attempted to steal multiple items. A University of Maine Police Department officer saw a vehicle, which had previously been reported for suspicious activity, parked near the Alfond Arena around 8:17 a.m., Sunday. The officer found a door to the Alfond Arena was unsecured, police said. Steven Vanroboys, 56, of Ontario, was inside the arena, trying to steal various items, police said. They did not say what he is accused of stealing. Vanroboys was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail and was released on a $1,000 bail, police said.
