Another pretty nice day is in store for Maine on Pi Day with mild temps and dry conditions. Rain and snow return on Friday with cooler temps, and unsettled weather will continue into the weekend.
Starting with Thursday, the outlook is dry and mild. We’ll see some areas of afternoon sun with coastal upper 40s and inland low 50s.
Friday brings our next widespread rain chance. Rain will begin before sunrise and continue at least through noon, and likely into the afternoon.
Precipitation will fall as snow in the mountains, with some wet snow mixing in outside the mountains as well. Accumulations currently look to be mainly confined to higher elevations where a couple inches of wet snow could fall.
Friday will be cool, highs in the 30s to around 40.
Saturday looks dry and mild once again.
We’ll see mainly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 40s or low 50s.
An afternoon inland shower is possible, with some small hail possible.
St. Patrick’s Day is looking pretty wet. Rain will move in during the early morning and continue off and on through the day.
Some wet snow could again fall in the mountains. Highs will still be mild, in the mid to upper 40s, negating any lasting snow cover.
Other than potential lingering showers, Monday next week looks mostly dry with highs in the mid 40s.
Tuesday brings the first day of spring, and It also happens to be one of the chillier days in the forecast. Highs will drop to the upper 30s and low 40s with gradually clearing skies.
Cooler temperatures look to continue into the middle and latter part of next week as well.
