A Bangor man allegedly assaulted a woman and then tried to flee from police while in handcuffs.
Richard Lee, 24, was charged with domestic violence assault and failure to submit to arrest or detention, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
Lee allegedly assaulted the woman on Union Street about 2 p.m. Saturday, McAmbley said Monday afternoon.
When a police officer arrived, Lee allegedly attempted to flee, but when a second officer arrived, they managed to place Lee in handcuffs.
But when police attempted to put Lee in a cruiser, he tried to flee again and was subdued, according to McAmbley.
Lee also was wanted on four outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court on other charges.
He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
