Maine State Police have arrested a Bradford man following an incident that prompted authorities to issue a shelter-in-place advisory Monday morning.
At about 7 a.m. police responded to a report of domestic violence involving a husband and wife at a residence on Drake Road.
When they arrived, police saw Timothy Philpot, 60, carrying a gun outside of his residence. He was “on a public way refusing to comply with commands to surrender himself,” according to police, who then issued the shelter-in-place advisory for residents of Drake Road.
Philpot’s wife got out of the house safely and was not injured, according to police. Philpot was taken into custody after several hours of negotiation with the Maine State Police Crisis Negotiation Team and brought to Eastern Maine Medical Center, then to Penobscot County Jail. Police did not immediately say why he was brought to a hospital.
Philpot was charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and felony level criminal mischief.
