The Queen says the Princess of Wales “will be thrilled” after receiving posters from well-wishers on a walkabout in Shrewsbury.
The royal made the comments on a visit to a farmers’ market as she met two young girls who made signs for Kate following her cancer announcement.
After being handed the signs, the Queen was heard saying: “I shall send this off to Catherine. She will be thrilled.”
To the second young girl, she says: “And your one? There we are. I know she’ll be very thrilled. [I’ll] make sure she knows it comes from you. Thank you very, very much”.
It follows the Princess of Wales revealing in a video statement on Friday that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy.
She said she and Prince William had been doing everything they could to “process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family”.

Kate added it has “taken time” to explain her diagnosis to her children George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is “appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK”.
The news comes as the King also deals with his own cancer diagnosis.
Buckingham Palace announced in February that the King had been diagnosed after a “separate issue of concern was noted” during treatment for his benign prostate condition.
On Wednesday, the Queen greeted stall owners and members of the public as she toured Shrewsbury farmers’ market.
She then moved to the Old Market Hall where signed the visitor’s book – previously signed by Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.
Despite the King carrying out low-key official duties behind palace walls, the Queen has had to attend many recent engagements alone.

However, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday that the King will attend the Easter Mattins Service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Easter Sunday.
It will be the monarch’s most significant public appearance and major royal engagement since his cancer diagnosis.
William, Kate and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will not be attending the service.
