The University of Maine men’s ice hockey team is up against a challenge Thursday night, facing off against Cornell University in the highest-stakes game of the season.
The Black Bears open Thursday’s NCAA Regional first round game against ECAC champion Cornell University at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, at 5:30 p.m.

Denver and UMass will open the tourney at 2 p.m., and the winners will face off at 4 p.m. on Saturday for the right to play in the Frozen Four in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on April 11-13.
The last time the Black Bears made a Frozen Four appearance was in 2007.
