A vehicle struck a fire hydrant in Westbrook on Friday morning, causing “significant” traffic delays.
Police are advising drivers to avoid Warren Avenue between Riverside and Main streets.
The area will continue to see “significant traffic delays” as crews scramble to deal with the issue, according to the Westbrook Police Department.
“At this time, traffic is down to one lane but depending on the scope of the damage, the roadway may be completely closed for periods of time later this morning,” Westbrook police said.
Water service may be disrupted in the area.
No one was injured in the crash.
