A woman and two young kids were seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a Dixmont crash.
The woman was driving on Moosehead Trail Road about 2 p.m. Sunday when she crossed into the opposite lane, left the road and struck several trees, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman was trapped in the vehicle. When rescuers finally freed her, she was airlifted to a local hospital, where she was treated for serious injuries, the sheriff’s office said Sunday night.
Two children who were in the vehicle with her also suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
The sheriff’s office didn’t release the identities of the victims.
The crash remains under investigation.
