You will have to wait just a bit longer before you can embark on a Maine adventure in Bangor.
That’s because the new Renys on Springer Drive near the Bangor Mall has delayed its grand opening from Thursday to Friday.
The retailer said Monday that the delay was necessary because of the impending nor’easter, which is set to arrive in Maine on Wednesday and linger into Friday, dumping as much as 14 inches of snow over Greater Bangor.
“We wish that this was a joke, but due to the impending storm, we will be moving our Grand Opening in Bangor to Friday, April 5th,” the retailer said in a statement.
There will be a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Friday, with raffles and giveaways throughout the weekend.
The 31,000-square-foot space was formerly home to The Christmas Tree Shops, which closed last August. The opening of the Bangor location — the 18th in the state — comes after Renys renovated its Pittsfield location and could be joined by another location in Waterville next year.
Renys is celebrating 75 years in business in 2024.
