The Republican National Committee keeps asking, are you better off today than you were four years ago? My answer to that is definitely a big yes. I am no longer subjected to seeing trucks being used as temporary morgues because the death rate from COVID-19 was overwhelming hospitals and morgues.
Then-President Donald Trump was telling people not to worry because it would go away soon if you got some sunshine. used disinfectant. Or take Hydroxychloroquine. None of these should have been used to battle COVID.
I also don’t miss standing out in the cold waiting my turn to get into a store, hoping the shelves wouldn’t be bare. Once inside you had to wear a mask, follow the directional arrows on the floor, and maintain a six-foot distance. We have recovered from COVID faster than any other similar country. Inflation is still high but I have faith it will come down. Wages have come up to help combat inflation which is a big help.
There are a whole host of other things that have been done to make our lives better, like lower drug costs for seniors, making computer chips here in the U.S. instead of depending on China, passing the infrastructure act, creating millions of new jobs, and the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years. There is more but this will do for now.
