A Massachusetts man will spend 15 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl and other drugs into Maine.
U.S. District Court Judge Lance Walker handed down the sentence to Harold Andujar-Pimentel, 25, of Hyde Park on Tuesday in Bangor, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Andujar-Pimentel also will serve five years of supervised release.
In November 2022, police searched a home and camper on a property in Anson. Police found Andujar-Pimentel in the camper, and he fled from officers who pursued him through the woods until he was apprehended, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
During a search of the camper, police found more than five pounds of fentanyl, more than a pound of methamphetamine, about a pound of crack cocaine, 89 Oxycodone pills, 50 Xanax “bars,” six guns and more than $5,000 in cash, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Andujar-Pimentel pleaded guilty on Dec. 21, 2023.
Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, is up to 100 times more potent than morphine, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Just 3 milligrams can cause a fatal overdose. There are 2.3 million milligrams in 5.08 pounds.
