The University of Connecticut’s Huskies received homers from Luke Broadhurst, Maddix Dalena, Jake Studley and Bryan Padilla and pounded the University of Maine 20-2 in a non-conference baseball game at Elliot Ballpark in Storrs, Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon.
Dalena, Broadhurst and Matt Malcom each drove in three runs for the 14-16 winners. Broadhurst and Malcom each had three hits and T.C. Simmons tripled and doubled and knocked in a pair of runs.
Joe Cinnella tossed three innings of two-hit, two-run ball in the seven-inning game to improve his record to 2-2.
Jake Marquez belted a two-run homer to stake UMaine to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second but the Huskies answered with nine runs in the bottom of the second and seven more in the third at the expense of Noah Lewis and Gabe Gifford.
Lewis took the loss and is now 0-5.
Jeph Hadson-Taylor, Colin Plante, Dean O’Neill and Jack Friend each singled for 7-20 UMaine, which will travel to UMass Lowell for America East games on Friday at 3, Saturday at 1 and Sunday at noon.
