A school bus crashed into a lumber truck on Thursday morning, causing a chain-reaction crash.
The bus driver was turning onto Coldbrook Road from Odlin Road about 11:20 a.m. when he became distracted after his seat belt unhooked, causing him to fall out of the seat and down the bus stairs, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The bus then struck a stopped lumber delivery truck, forcing it into a tractor-trailer hauling fuel, the sheriff’s office said.
The bus driver was treated for minor injuries, while the drivers of the other two vehicles weren’t injured.
No students were on the bus at the time.
The bus sustained “substantial” front-end damage. The lumber and fuel trucks were damaged as well, but could be driven from the scene.
No material was spilled.
