The passerby who rescued a driver trapped in a burning vehicle earlier this week has been identified.
The driver was traveling on Long Swamp Road in Lebanon on Monday night when they left the road and struck a tree, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash left the driver trapped in the vehicle, which caught fire.
Stanley Grenier of Springvale stopped and, according to witnesses, pulled the driver from the burning vehicle. He left before first responders arrived.
The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The York County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday afternoon that Grenier had come forward as the good Samaritan, and had stopped by to meet with officers.
“His good citizenship is appreciated,” the sheriff’s office said.
