As a resident of Bangor, I am grateful to state Sen. Joe Baldacci for recognizing the value of child care and early childhood education. He knows the first five years in a child’s life are critical to brain development and future success in school and in life.
He knows parents need child care to work and businesses need workers. Child care providers are the workforce behind the workforce needed to build Maine’s economy.
Baldacci, chair of the Health and Human Services Committee, has supported and co-sponsored legislation to help parents access affordable quality child care and to help providers be fairly and timely reimbursed. Providers struggle to hire and retain employees when people can work shorter hours for more money in fast food restaurants.
Thank you to Sen. Joe Baldacci for his leadership and support of child care and early childhood education in the Maine Legislature.
